Charges framed against Acharya and 11 others

Chennai, Jul 23 (UNI) A sessions court here today framed charges against Kanchi Acharya Jayendara Saraswathi and 11 others in the Auditor Radhakrishnan assault case.

The Kanchi seer, who is the main accused in the sensational Shankaraman murder case, is accused of masterminding the assault on G Radhakrishnan, who was the former auditor of the mutt.

The prosecution case was that the assailants, at Acharya's instruction, attacked Radhakrishnan, his wife and an attendant with sharp weapons at his residence here on September 20, 2002.

The sessions court framed the charges againt the Acharya, who is also facing a trial in the Shankaraman murder case in the Union territory of Puducherry.

Acharya and 11 others were present at the court when the charges were framed against them.

The court adjourned the hearing to August 27.
