Buldhana tehsildar suspended for not using PM's cheque

Mumbai, July 23 (UNI) Maharashtra Minister for Revenue Rajendra Shingane today announced the suspension of a tehsildar from Buldhana district for not using the cheque given by Prime Minister as compensation to the wife of a farmer, who was swept away in the flood on August 6, last year.

Replying to the issue raised by Diwakar Raote (Sena), Mr Shingane also announced the inquiry of the District Collector.

Mr Raote said Tukaram Ingale, a farmer from Divthana, in Chikhali taluka of the district was swept away, and his wife Kamal was given a demand draft of Rs one lakh by the PMO on November 30, last year.

The cheque was given to the Residential Deputy Collector on January 6, 2007 and was handed over to the tehsildar. However, it was not given to the kin of the deceased and the cheque's limit of six months had expired.
