Apollo Hospitals net grows 73%

Chennai, Jul 23 (UNI) Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited (AHEL) today reported an impressive 73 per cent growth in net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2007.

The company recorded a net profit of Rs 300 million as compared to Rs 173 million for the corresponding quarter last year, a company release here said.

Total income rose 26 per cent to Rs 2,594 million (Rs 2,052 million).

On new initatives, the company said Apollo Health City, 'Asia's first functional health city,' was launched in Hyderabad this year.

It was the 'first-ever 360 degree integrated facility offering solutions across the healthcare space, including preventive and curative healthcare and education under one roof.' The facility encompassed a 300-bed multi-specialty hospital with over 50 specialties and super-specialties along with ten centres of excellence.

The setting up of chest pain clinics across the country was another prominent new initiative undertaken by Apollo Hospitals this last year, it claimed.
