AP Govt to complete Metro rail project in four years

Hyderabad, July 23 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government will take up the Metro Rail project at a cost of Rs 8,482 crore, which will be completed in four years, State Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K Ranga Rao today told the Legislative Council.

Replying to a question in the House, Mr Rao said the grant for the metro project from the Centre was Rs 1,638 crore, while the State Government would bear Rs 1,638 crore and 11 per cent of the equity of Rs 180 crore. The remaining cost of the project would be generated by the developer.

Stating that the project would be taken up on a Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis under Public Private Partnership, the Minister said the developer would be finalised by this October and work would be commenced by the year-end.

Mr Rao said the rail project would be implemented on three routes - Miyapur to LB Nagar (29.87 km), Jubilee bus station to Falaknuma (14.78 km) and Osmania university to Shilparamam (21.74 km).
