AIMIM stalls Assembly proceedings
Hyderabad, July 23 (UNI) All India Majilis-E-Itihadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) today stalled the proceedings in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for some time, demanding a discussion on 'ransacking' of furniture by the BJP student wing activists, in protest against the state government's decision to provide four per cent reservation to backward sections among the Muslim community.
AIMIM members were on their feet, and setting aside regular business which they demanded for a discussion on the issue, after Speaker K R Suresh Reddy announced that he was disallowing the adjournment motion notice by the party.
After TDP and TRS members were suspended from the House for stalling the proceedings, the AIMIM members disrupted the proceedings.
Condemning the vandalism indulged in by the activists of the BJP's student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the AIMIM demanded immediate discussion on the issue.
The Speaker restored the order, assuring that the government would make a statement on the issue.
