Agitating CPI (M) workers held in Pondy
Puducherry, July 23 (UNI) Workers of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) were arrested when they marched to the Tahsildar's office in Bahour with household articles to settle down in the office, to press their demands.
Demanding that house site pattas be given to those residing in Government poromboke land in Bahour commune, withdrawal of pattas granted to ineligible people and releasing funds to renovate Government quarters for the Scheduled Castes in Bahour, the agitators carried gas stoves and household utensils to the office.
As police prevented from them entering the office, they began cooking food in front of the office.
Police later held talks with them to find an amicable settlment.
However. an altercation ensued between them, resulting in the arrest of the agitators.
