TN: 500 Star Tortoises seized from air passengers

Chennai, July 23: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials seized 500 Star Tortoises from two passengers at Anna International airport here last night.

DRI sources said on a tip-off they intercepted the passengers Rajamohamed (35) and Ahamed Ibrahim (40), both hailing from Ramanathapuram, who were proceeding to Kualalumpur.

The tortoises, valued Rs ten lakh in international market, were found concealed in packages, the DRI sources added.
