Two drowned, five injured in boat capsize

Kapurthala July 22 (UNI) A child and a woman drowned, while five others were injured when their boat capsized in the holy bein in Sultanpurlohdi today.

Police said seven people, including three children, were taking a boat ride on the ocassion of seventh year of kar sewa celebrations when their boat capsized. On hearing their cry, the kar sewaks of Baba Seechewal jumped into the river and saved five people and recovered the dead bodies of Kamaljit Kaur (12) and Amarjit Kaur (25).

The injured have been admitted to the civil hospital at Sultanpurlodhi and are stated to be out of danger.

Deceased Kamaljit kaur belonged to a village near Zira while Amarjit kaur belonged to village Sohal Khalsa falling in Shahkot .
