Minister visits flood-hit areas
Salem, Tamil Nadu, July 22 (UNI) State Handloom Minister N K K P Raja tonight visited Krishnambalayam where 400 persons were displaced due to floods in the River Cauvery.
Speaking to newsmen here, Mr Raja said 82 houses were affected due to flooding and the displaced persons taken to safer places.
He said permanent measures will be taken by the district administration to tackle such situations which occurred annually.
Alternative sites will be given to the displaced persons for building houses.
Later, District Collector T Udayachandran told the press permanent relief measures will be taken for the affected people in the krishnambalayam. He clarified as of now there was no loss due to flood.
