Veteran Congress leader no more

Kochi, July 21 (UNI) Veteran Congress leader and former member of the Kerala Legislature A A Kochunni Master (87) died here following a brief illness.

He is survived by six children. His wife, Nabi, predeceased him.

Master was the member of the State Assembly from 1972 to 1977 and represented the Aluva constituency. He was also the Chairman of the Public Works Committee during that period.

He was the founder secretary of the Cochin Thuramukka Thozhilali Union and was the secretary of the Union for the last 59 years.

Master was also the treasurer of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) and was the first Mayor of the Cochin Corporation in 1969.

The funeral will be held tomorrow at Mattancherry near here, family sources said.
