TDP MLAs, MLCs held in AP

Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, July 21 (UNI) Police today arrested 14 MLAs and seven MLCs of the Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP), including Senior Leaders N Janardhan Reddy and Y Dayakar Rao when they tried to proceed towards the controversial Obulapuram Mining Area in the district.

Police said the TDP leaders and party activits were prevented from entering the mining area.

The arrested persons were sent to Rayadurgam Police Station after a scuffle between the TDP leaders and the police.

The TDP alleged the state government awarded mining contract to Industrialist Janradhan Reddy in violation of rules.
