Police cane-charges protesters blocking traffic

Fatehgarh Sahib, July 21 (UNI) A large number of residents of industrial town Mandi Gobindgarh blocked traffic on the nearby G.T.

Road and staged dharna to lodge their protest over power failure lasting for hours last night.

Congress MLA from Amloh Sadhu Singh Dharamsot also joined the protest dharna. The police had to resort to a mild cane-charge to disperse the agitating people.

Due to the protest, the traffic on the G.T. Road remained disrupted till 1200hrs. After the traffic blockades were removed, some of the PSEB officials reached the spot and assured the residents that their grievances would soon be solved and power supply would be restored.
