Naga tribes demand security for border tensions
Kohima, Jul 21: The representatives of northern Naga tribes, suffering due to border disputes since long, have demanded the government to deploy adequate security personnel along the Assam-Nagaland border.
In backdrop of the recent economic blockade imposed by Assam in Nagaland, the representatives Ao Naga along with other tribes in a meeting at Mokokchung yesterday have appealed to the Centre, state and Assam government to settle the dispute between the two states at the earliest.
The representatives of Naga communities also shared their views and opinions on other issues like the economic blockades and unabated influx of illegal migrants into the state.
The meeting resolved to urge the state government to immediately deploy police forces in vulnerable border areas in Mon, Longleng, Wokha and Mokokchung district.
They also urged the government to complete the entire foot-hill roads, avoiding Assam, at the earliest and to create proper road nad other infrastructure at International Trade Centers such as Pangsha in Tuensang, Longwa in Mon and Mimi under Phek district.
