Monsoon active over Kerala, Lakshadweep

Thiruvananthapuram, July 21 (UNI) The South-West Monsoon was active over Kerala and most places in Lakshadweep today.

Vadakkancherry reported a maximum of 12 cm rainfall, local weather office said.

The other chief amount of rainfall in cms were Pattambi 10, Thrithala, Vadakara, Thalassery and Cialkutty seven each. Karipur Airport, Kochi, Koyilandy and Chalakkudy six each and Kannur, Kozhikode, Manjeri and Paravur five each.

Heavy rainfall at a few places with very heavy rainfall at isolated places was likely to occur in Kerala and at many places in Lakshadweep, it said. Strong onshore winds from westerly direction with speed, occasionally, reaching 45-55 kmph was likely along Kerala coast and over Lakshadweep during the next 48 hours.
