Former UP minister booked

Jhansi, July 21 (UNI) A case has been registered against 19 people, including former Uttar Pradesh PWD minister and senior Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Singh Yadav for irregularities in the panchayat election and assaulting BSP workers here.

Mr Yadav is the younger brother of SP chief and former UP chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Other named accused include Lohia Vahini national president Deep Narain Singh Yadav.

BSP leader Noor Ahmad Mansoori has lodged a case in this regard.

He alleged that the SP leaders had exerted pressure on the poll officials not to declare BSP candidate Lali Devi as winner from Rajapur ward, although she had won after counting.

Mansoori claimed that Mr Yadav issued threats to him over telephone, and other SP leaders even physically assaulted him.
