Ranchi, Jul 21: Negating the corruption charges levelled by Jharkhand Deputy Chief Minister Sudhir Mahto, DVC chairman Ashim Kumar Burman said the charges were based on misinformation.

Talking to sources here yesterday, Mr Burman said the deputy chief minister was not aware about the facts regarding installation of new power plants and scrap of the deal against which he demanded CBI inquiry.

Mr Mahto had alleged that Damodar Valley Corporation was indulged in corruption over establishing power plants in Koderma and Ramgarh of the state. He had also demanded a CBI inquiry from the Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde in this regard.

He also alleged that the DVC was about to install a 1000 MW capacity power plant in Koderma with an investment of Rs 5000 crores.

However, Mr Burman said the cost of the project was decided by Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and the DVC had no role in it.

''There is a thumb rule that about Rs four crore is needed to generate 1 MW of power'', the DVC chairman asserted.

Speaking on the deal, he said CEA had adviced DVC to dismantle one of its power plant at Bokaro for which tender were invited by Metal Scrap Trading Corporation (MSTC), who failed to turn up.
