Defeat terrorism with modern technology: Governor

Mumbai, July 21 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna today said that the government, armed forces and the internal security agencies will have to put their heads together to check the increasing scourge of terrorism effectively.

Speaking after the release of two books, ''Maritime Electronic Warfare Soft Kill Measures'', and ''Ancient Trade Routes Maharashtra'' at the INS Aswini auditorium here today, Mr Krishna said that in the face of ancient warfares being taken over by the modern electronic warfare, the terrorism needs to be defeated with such technologies only.

''The countries across the globe are facing the threat of terorism, with some countries even facing state-sponsored terrorism.

At the same time, the terrorists' weaponry has also become increasingly sophisticated. This amply explains the extent to which terrorists are arming themselves with modern technology. So we have to use all modern technologies to defeat them,'' he said.

''Maritime Electronic Warfare Soft Kill Measures'', which is the second book in series on the subject, and commissioned under the ''Maritime Operation'' series of the publications by the New Delhi-based National Martime Foundation (NMF), has been co-authored by Vice Admiral Sangram Singh Byce, Flag Officer-in-Command, Western Naval Command, along with Dr Rajni Tiwari, former scientific advisor to the Chief of Naval Staff.

However, ''Ancient Trade Route Maharashtra'', also authored by Vice Admiral Sangram Singh Byce along with photographs by eminent lensman Gopal Bodhe has been written to create maritime awareness.

Speaking on his book, Vice Admiral Byce said through his book on the electronic warfare, he has tried to demystify the subject in an easy language.

''While ''Maritime Electronic Warfare Soft Kill'' serves as a day-to-day reference manual, the other book ''Ancient Trade Routes Maharashtra'' rekindles maritime consciousness,'' he said.
