BJP lauds Third Front's support for Shekhawat

Kancheepuram, July 21: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tamil Nadu Unit President L Ganesan today lauded the Third Front for acting in a democratic manner when they voted for Bhairon Singh Shekhawat in the Presidential poll yesterday, despite their earlier decision to abstain from voting.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Ganesan, who was here to participate in a special yagam for world peace at Kamatchi Amman temple, said the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA) were stern in its decision to oppose the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) candidate Pratibha Patil, as she was allegedly facing corruption charges.

Mr Ganesan said it is difficult to predict an alliance with AIADMK in the near-future, though the BJP is thankful to the party supremo J Jayalalithaa and her partymen for extending their support.

It is a welcome sign that Desiya Murpoku Dravida Kazagam (DMDK) Founder Vijayakanth had exercised his franchise in the presidential poll.

The BJP leader also visited Shankara Mutt here and sought the blessings of Jayendra Saraswati and Vijayendra Saraswati.
