7 armed militants arrested in Dimapur

Kohima, July 21 (UNI) Dimapur police have arrested seven suspected militants, including two women, with arms and ammunition from Lotha Colony near Signal Basti area in Dimapur.

Police here today said four of the arrested people were from Manipur and one from Assam and the two women from Nagaland.

One 7.56mm pistol, four rounds of ammunition, one car with fake registration number and 90 grams of contraband was also recovered from the arrested yesterday.

Police suspected that some of them might have joined the NSCN-IM undergroung outfit recently after they ousted from Kanglei Yawool Kanna Lup (KYKL), a Manipur based militant outfit.

However, investigation was on to ascertain the exact identity of the arrested and their involvement in the arms deal, sources said.
