AP: TDP demands more funds for GHMC

Hyderabad, July 20: The Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today demanded more funds for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), claiming that no development work had been taken up in the city since the last three years.

Former TDP Minister T Devender Goud told newspersons here after staging a walkout in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly in protest against the Speaker's refusal to allow more time to discuss issues like traffic, drainage and road conditions in the city, he charged the Government with not releasing sufficient funds to the GHMC to take up works in the city.

Alleging that the Government did not allow the Opposition to raise any issue in the House, he said it was not proper in a democratic set up and the Government should allow the Opposition to play a constructive role. ''Though the Opposition is cooperating with the Government, the Government is not extending any cooperation to us.

It is only trying to throttle us on all issues,'' he added.
