Suicide attack wounds 3 UK troops, 2 Afghans
Kandahar, Afghanistan, July 20: A suicide car bomb attack on British troops in the southern Afghan province of Helmand today wounded three soldiers and two Afghan civilians, the provincial police chief said.
Hussain Andiwal told the sources the attack took place in the Sangin district of Helmand where British troops have been engaged in heavy fighting with Taliban insurgents for more than a year.
Afghanistan has seen a sharp rise in the number of suicide and roadside bombings in the last 18 months, which Western military officials say is due to the Taliban's inability to launch conventional attacks without sustaining heavy casualties.
