Srinagar, July 20 (UNI) Suspected militants carried out a series of grenade attacks on the security forces across the Kashmir valley, resulting in injuries to at least a dozen of people today on the day when the state Legislature was in session.

Official sources said six grenade attacks were reported from several parts of the city and outskirts.

The first attack took place at the busy Hari Singh High Street (HSHS) here this afternoon, some metres away from the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Complex where both the Houses were in session.

Five people were wounded in the grenade attack on the bunker of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at HSHS near the banks of river Jhelum.

Soon after, the sources said suspected militants hurled another grenade at a CRPF post at Aloochi Bagh here at 1510 hrs.

However, the grenade exploded on the roadside, causing injuries to a shopkeeper.

The blast was followed by another grenade attack on the CRPF at Gulmarg-Narbal road on the city outskirts this afternoon.

However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded on the roadside, causing injuries to at least three people.

The sources said suspected militants then lobbed a hand grenade on the CRPF at Tattoo Ground near Batamaloo here at 1940 hrs.

However, no damage was reported in the explosion, they added.

This was followed by another grenade attack on Hotel Boulevard, housing the headquarters of CRPF's 114 battalion, at the busy Boulevard Road near the banks of the famed Dal Lake at 1930 hrs.

However, no casualty was reported in the explosion.

Then at 2015 hrs, suspected militants hurled another hand grenade toward a parking place on the Boulevard Road.

Three people (all taxi drivers) were wounded in the attack on the parking place at Tanghbagh (Chinar Bagh) on the Boulevard Road, mostly frequented by tourists, near the world famous Dal Lake here.

Among the wounded taxi drivers, two were from Jammu and one from Kashmir. The windowpanes of three taxis were damaged while a tyre of another vehicle burst due to the impact of the blast.

Security has been tightened across the city after the series of grenade explosions.
