Six criminals killed in encounter

Lakhisarai, July 20 (UNI) Six dreaded criminals were killed in an encounter with a joint team of the Special Task Force (STF) and police at Teen Anwa Diara in the district today.

Inspector General (Operation) S K Bhardwaj told newspersons here that acting on a tip-off, police raided a hideout in the area.

On being challenged, the criminals fired bullets and the force in retaliation, killed are six criminals.

The gangster, Mukesh, was wanted in connection with more than 12 cases of murder, loot and kidnapping lodged in Patna, Mokama, Barhaia and Ranchi.

The rest were also wanted in a number of criminal cases of serious nature, including murder, loot and dacoity.

Two STF jawans, who sustained injuries during the encounter, were admitted to a local hospital.

One AK-47 rifle, two magazines and some live cartridges were recovered from the spot during the operation, police added.
