RGGVY to be completed by 2009 despite all odds: DVC Chairman

Ranchi, July 20 (UNI) Admitting that no village has been lightened under Rajeev Gandhi Vudyutikaran Yojna (RGGVY) till date Chairman of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) Ashit Kumar Barman today claimed electrification of about 10,000 villages under the scheme would be done by 2009.

Talking to reporters Mr Burman said about Rs 28 crore out of allocated Rs 40 crore had been so far spent under the scheme, at present operational in three out of eight santioned districts.

Mr Burman said plantation of poles in those districts was about to complete adding sanction of scheme for two more districts had also been received.

Speaking about his meeting with Chief Minister Madhu Koda and Deputy Chief Minister Sudhir Mahto during the day Mr Burman said the state government had assured to provide every support to establish power plants in Koderma and Ramgarh.

'' We have been assured to receive the allotment of 950 acres of land half of the requirement by the end of this month or in the beginning of August for establishing 1000 MW in Koderma'' he said.

DVC Chairman said plant load factor (PLF) of DVC which supplies 60 per cent of its total production to Jharkhand State Electricity Board had been enhanced to 80 per cent in last six years.

Informing about the other activities by the DVC he said Maithon and Tilaya would be developed as tourist centre by the corporation, Besides, fish farming in all the DVC reservoirs would be promoted to increase the fish production to 1000 tonnes from the present production of 20 tonnes, he added.
