MP: Report on SP MLAs who voted in Prez poll
Bhopal, July 20: The SP's Madhya Pradesh unit President Narayan Tripathi today said that he had sent, to the party high command, a report on five SP MLAs going against the partyline by voting in the 13th presidential election.
''The legislators' conduct was definitely improper as the party had decided to abstain,'' he told reporters here. The state Assembly has seven SP MLAs. While Mr Tripathi abstained, Dr Sunilam was hospitalised.
When asked whether the rebellious step weakened the SP's position in Madhya Pradesh, Mr Tripathi said that the legislators' concerned sullied their own image.
''The BJP regime's tenure in this state witnessed a spurt in atrocities against the weaker sections and women. People are vexed about corruption. The SP will soon prepare the outline of a public agitation and take to the streets,'' he alleged.
