Hyderabad, July 20 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for a brief period today, as the main Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) stalled the proceedings over alleged 'irregularities' in the implementation of the Indiramma scheme.

As soon as the House assembled for the day, Speaker K R Suresh Reddy disallowed the adjournment motions, given notice of by the TDP, CPI, CPI(M) and BJP on the issue.

Soon the TDP members were on their feet, demanding setting aside of regular business and immediate taking up for discussion of the alleged irregularities in the selection of beneficiaries under the Indiramma programme for providing housing, old age pension and other welfare measures.

The Speaker urged the members to raise the issue in different form and promised them to allow a discussion on the issue.

As pandemonium continued to prevail in the House despite his repeated appeals to resume their seats, the Speaker announced adjournment of the House for 15 minutes.

When the House re-assembled, the TDP members were again on their feet, demanding an immediate discussion on the issue. After the Speaker assured them that he would allow a discussion under Rule 344, the TDP members relented.

Earlier, the Speaker also disallowed the adjournment motions given notice of by the TRS for a special notification for providing employment to the youth of Telangana, BSP on non-filling up of lecturer posts in junior colleges and Janata Party member K Ramulu to press for making his home constituency of Metpally a Revenue division.
