Liquor sale prohibited in Loharu, Hodal
Chandigarh, July 20 (UNI) Haryana Excise and Taxation Department has ordered closure of liquor vends, hotels, restaurants, clubs and other establishments selling or serving liquor from July 21 to 23 in the respective areas of Muncipal Committees of Loharu and Hodal falling in the districts of Bhiwani and Faridabad respectively.
The decision was taken in view of the elections and bye-elections scheduled to be held in these areas on July 22.
A spokesman of the Department said that selling or serving liquor on the polling days would not be permitted in pursuance of the provisions of rule 37(10) of Haryana Liquor Licence Rules, 1970.
All the liquor vends, hotels, restaurants, clubs and other establishments selling or serving liquor would remain closed in the election areas till the counting was completed and results were declared, he added.
He said the restrictions prescribed in the excise laws on possession and storage of liquor in unlicensed premises would also be vigorously enforced in order to ensure that storage of liquor by inividuals was drastically reduced during the period of polling.
