Naga: Legislators appeal to ENSF to end stir

Kohima, Jul 20: The Democratic Alliance of Nagaland(DAN) legislators of Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire and Longleng districts have appealed to the Eastern Naga Students' Federation(ENSF) to withdraw their ongoing agitation, demanding 25 per cent job reservation.

In a press release issued here today, Nagaland Rural Development Minister Noke Konyak, on behalf of all the DAN legislators, informed the ENSF that the state government had set up a committee to look into the demand and the matter was being treated with utmost seriousness.

He added that the committee had been given two-month time to prepare the report and it would submit its report within a week.

Therefore, in view of the state government's prompt action, the legislators appealed to the ENSF to withdraw their agitation till the committee submitted its report to the government.

The ENSF had called a 48-hour bandh from July 18 to press their demand of 25 per cent reservation for government jobs to the backward districts of Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire and Longleng and was gearing up for its second phase of agitation.
