KRS, Kabini getting heavy inflows

Mysore, July 20 (UNI) More than 1.30 lakh cusecs of water was being discharged from both Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) and Kabini, two major reservoirs of the Cauvery Basin in Karnataka.

According to official sources, though there was respite from heavy rainfall in Cauvery Basin region, the inflow to reservoirs was unabated and the district administration had taken measures to shift the people living downstream to safer places.

Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today offered pooja to river Cauvery at KRS where water touched its maximum level of 124 feet last week.

While the inflow into KRS was 30,000 cusecs, the Kabini was receiving about 55,000 cusecs of water, the sources said.
