Illicit liquor worth Rs 4 cr seized in K'taka

Bangalore, July 20 (UNI) The Karnataka police have seized illicit arrack and liquor worth Rs four crore in a series of raids conducted in the state since the imposition of ban on manufacture and sale of arrack in Karnataka from July 1, Director General and Inspector General of Police R Srinivasan said today.

In a press release here, he said 786 people have been arrested for the alleged violation of the provisions of the Karnataka Excise Act. As many as 764 cases have been registered.

Twenty vehicles, including lorries and two-wheelers, used for transporting the banned liquor and arrack, have been impounded, he added.
