New Delhi, July 20 (UNI) Hot and humid conditions continue to make Delhiites sweat for the third consecutive day today even as Northwesterlies provided some respite from the humidity.

Humidity levels continued to hover above 70 per cent for the second consecutive day. The high humidity, coupled with the scorching heat, kept mercury above normal even though there was a slight drop in maximum temperature to 36.6 degrees Celsius, from 37.5 degrees yesterday.

There was, however, a rise in minimum temperature to 30.3 degrees.

Some respite from warm and humid conditions could be in offing towards the weekend with the weatherman forecasting fresh spells of rainfall in Delhi and other plains of North India in the next two to three days under the influence of a Westerly trough.

''Under the influence of an approaching westerly trough, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity is likely over Western Himalayan region and adjoining Northern plains from tomorrow onwards,'' the weather office said.

The weather office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with possibility of thundry development in some areas towards the evenings.
