Heavy rains in Dharamshala

Shimla, Jul 20 (UNI) Heavy rains lashed Dharamshala town of Himachal Pradesh with 106.8 mm rains even as light rains lashed isolated places in the state during the last 24 hrs, the met office said.

The town experienced 106.8 mm rains late last evening and early morning today after recording light showers during the last few days.

The met office said Bharwain in Uan district of the state also recorded 58 mm rain followed by 18 mm at Baijnath, 12.2 mm at Palampur, 11 mm at Bangana, 6.5 mm each at Nurpur and Manali towns, 6.4 mm at Una and five mm at Jogindernagar in Mandi district.

Shimla town also recorded 1.2 mm rain during the last 24 hrs.

Thin clouds were hovering over the tribal districts of Kinnuar, Lahaul Spiti, Chamba and Kullu districts of the state with Rekong Peo, district headquarter of Kinnuar experiencing light showers after 1500 hrs.

The minimum temperatures across the state continue to rise with Shimla recording a low of 17.3 degrees as compared to 16.7 degrees, while Sundernagar and Bhuntar recording night temperatures of 22.5 and 21.6 degree Celsius respectively, the met office said.

The night temperature at Kalpa in Kinnuar district also rose by a few notches to 12.8 degree as compared to 12.5 degree Celsius recorded yesterday.

However, the maximum temperatures at a few places in the state fell by a few degrees with the day temperature at Shimla dropping to 22.2 degree Celsius from yesterday's high of 23.1 degrees.

Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded day temperatures of 31.2 and 30.4 degree Celsius respectively, while Kalpa recorded a fall in minimum temperature to 23 degrees from 24.8 degrees, the met office said.

The met office has predicted rain or thundershowers at isolated places in the state during the next 24 hrs.
