Govt mulls supply of rice for handicapped through PDS
Puducherry, July 20 (UNI) The Puducherry administration is making arrangements for the distribution of free rice meant for physically-challenged persons through the ration shops in the wake of an agitation by the anganwadi workers, who were entrusted with its distribution.
The free rice for handicapped persons was being distributed through the anganwadi workers and it was affected due to their strike, demanding that the government withdraw an order transferring them en masse.
Meanwhile, the workers, who were on strike for the last few days, were scheduled to hold talks with Chief Minister N Rangasamy to find an amicable settlement to the issue.
Meanwhile, DMK Legislator Nanda T Saravanan, in a statement here today demanded that the government effect the transfer of workers only after obtaining their consent.
