DSP booked on corruption charges

Fatehgarh Sahib, July 20 (UNI) A case has been registered against Anil Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, police today said.

Anil Kumar was earlier posted as DSP, CID here and had recently been transferred, sources said adding that the case was registered after the approval of the Punjab DGP.

The case was registered on the complaint of Ranjit Kaur, sarpanch of village Pandrali, who had alleged that the DSP had taken Rs 70,000 to help some villagers go scotfree in a case registered against them on charges of embezzling the funds of the Guru Tegh Bahadur Youth Services Club of the village.

On the complaint, the SSP had directeded Fatehgarh Sahib DSP Amarjit Singh Ghuman to conduct an inquiry into the allegations and the probe report stated that incriminating evidence was found against the DSP Anil Kumar.

A case was registered at Sirhind police station after getting the approval of the DGP.

The SSP said that Fatehgarh Sahib SP (Headquarter) was investigating the case now.
