DGP presents Life Time Achievements Awards to sportspersons

Jalandhar, Jul 20 (UNI) Punjab Director General of Police NPS Aulakh today conferred Life Time Achievemenrs Awards and Awards of Excellence to distinquished sportspersons of the Punjab Police here.

The distinquished sportspersons comprising of Padma Shrees, Arjuna Awardees, Dhyan Chand Awardees, Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Awardees, Olympians, participants of Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and other international events were among the awardees.

While delivering the welcome address, ADGP Rajan Gupta said that the awards were due to sportspersons most of whom finished their sports career in the 90s and early 2000. Sportspersons, who are still active were given Award of Excellence, he added.

During the function, 81 sportspersons of yesteryears were conferred with Life Time Achievemenrs Awards, 60 who are still playing in the Punjab Police teams with Awards of Excellence for their sterling performance in thier respective disciplines.

On the occasion, the DGP said that he would try to persuade the government to lift the ban imposed on recruitments for outstanding sportspersons in Punjab Police.
