BMC proposes to give licence to builders

Mumbai Jul 20 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to issue licences to builders in the city, and they will be responsible for any mishaps.

Speaking to reporters today, BMC chief Jairaj Phatak said builders will be fined Rs 25,000 for any accident in their constructions and jailed for a period ranging from one month to one year.

Phatak said a proposal to this effect will soon be submitted in the Standing Committee and the State Government will support the corporation in this decision.
