BEST installs LCD screens and CCTV's in 100 buses

Mumbai, July 20 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking has installed LCD screens and CCTV's in 100 buses in the first phase.

Taking cue from the blasts in its buses a few years ago, the undertaking has installed LCD screens and CCTV's in 100 buses for security reasons. These 100 buses were launched yesterday.

''The movements in the buses will be recorded in a black box that will be placed near the driver's seat,'' said BEST General Manager Uttam Khobragade.

Khobragade said the LCD screens will display many things which will be used by the companies for advertisements and the undertaking will earn a revenue of around Rs 4 crore annualy with these schemes.

The BEST plans to install LCD's and CCTV's in all its 3,500 odd buses in six months time.

In addition to this, the undertaking is also including Volvo buses in its fleet for luxury and long travel buses.
