2793 criminals nabbed in Haryana

Chandigarh, July 20 (UNI) In a campaign to nab anti-social elements, the Haryana Police have arrested 2,793 criminals and recovered looted property worth over Rs 1.74 crore from them.

Police also nabbed 12 criminal gangs involved in dacoity, robbery, motor vehicle theft, burglary, theft and arrested 18 proclaimed offenders and 149 bail jumpers during the first fortnight of the this month, a police spokesman said.

It also solved 204 of the 652 cases registered under crime against property like robbery, dacoity, burglary, extortion and theft and arrested 260 persons involved in such cases in the state.

He said the State Police had achieved remarkable progress in working out 245 registered cases out of 267 cases.

As many as 315 accused were sent behind the bars in criminal cases like murder, culpable homicide, hurt, kidnapping and abduction during this period.

Police also succeeded in solving 123 of the 130 cases registered under crime against women like dowry deaths, kidnapping, abduction, rape and molestation and arrested 114 persons involved in these cases, he said.
