Surendranagar, July 20: About 27 familes of Surendranagar districts have returned the ''platry compenstation cheque'' to district collector as a protest of the Gujarat Governmnet's attitude for the losses incurred by them in the recent floods.

''Twenty-seven people of Vadhwan taluka returned the cheques of Rs 150 to the district collecter,'' a senior officer from the Surendranagar district collectorate told UNI.

The district witnessed heavy rains during the monsoon fury early this month and the state Government announced a compenstation, which the people of the district rejected as the compenstation was too low.

Limadi, Chudu and Vadhwan talukas of Surendranagar witnessed heavy losses of properties due to floods.

The apethetic attitutde of the state administration has caused distress among the flood victims as people refused to take paltry sum of Rs 150 offered as componsation to their damaged houses.
