VHP to organise rally against Sethusamudram project

Bangalore, July 19: Vishwa Hindu Parishad International Working President S Vedantam today said a rally will be organised on August 12 to protest against the Sethu Samudram Channel Project (SSCP).

Speaking to newspersons here, he regretted that the work on SSCP was continuing despite widespread protests by Hindus conveying their sentiments in a peaceful manner.

A meeting of religious heads and Dharmacharyas would be held on July 25 and 26 at New Delhi to discuss and decide the future course of action to mobilise the people to raise their voice against destruction of Sri Ram Sethu or Adams Bridge, he added.

It was the duty of the government to protect the mythical bridge believed to have been constructed by Sri Rama, as a national monument, he noted.

The VHP leader urged the authorities working at the SSCP site to ensure that no damage was done to the Ram Sethu as it would ruffle the feelings of crores of Hindus across the country.
