Ulfa plans it big for I-day, two arrested with explosives

Guwahati, July 19 (UNI) Ahead of the ULFA's ''Martyr's Day'' and the country's Independence Day celebrations, the Army today arrested two rebels and seized explosives in Upper Asom's Tinsukia district.

Col S K Khanna of the second Bihar Regiment said the two kg explosives and six detonators were seized from the ULFA rebels.

The explosives, the Army said, were meant to be used during the outfit's ''Martyr's Day'' falling on July 27 and during the Independence Day on August 15.

The arrested rebels had been identified as Kamal Chiring and Durgeswar Moran, both hailing from Doomdooma.

Two cars and some fake currencies were also seized from them.
