TDP activists observe dharna before TTD office

Tirupati, July 19 (UNI) Demanding seizing of all vehicles, and arrest of Youth Congress (YC) workers, who were involved in a car rally at Tirumala in violation of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) rules and bursting of crackers yesterday, Telugu Desam party (TDP) activists today staged a dharna before the TTD office here.

About 100 activists led by TDP leaders and former TTD board members -- Srinivasulu, Mahadev Naidu and N V Prasad, demanded the resignation of TTD Trust Board Chairman B Karunakara Reddy and stern action against the security officials, for their negligence at Alipiri check post.

They also demanded action against other YC activists, involved in the rally and seized 300 vehicles used by the activists. Police booked cases against six workers, including Chittoor district YC President P Venkatesh.

They also demanded a white paper on the funds spent by TTD for Dharma Prachara Parishad (DPP) and Kalyanamastu programme.

A memorandum was submitted to TTD Executive Officer K V Ramanachary.

Mr Ramanachary assured the activists that stern action would be initiated against the errand officials and security personnel.
