Students protest BTC admission merit list in UP

Allahabad, July 19 (UNI) About 200 students organised a 'chakka jam' here today and ransacked the property of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) demanding preparation of the special BTC admissions merit list at state level.

Panic gripped the area after a mob of students torched a motorcycle and vandalised several stationery buses near Hanuman temple and Medical crossing. According to sources, police had to use force to disperse the agitators.

The students were demanding that the admission of special BTC should be at state level and not district level like it was during the Kalyan Singh regime in UP.

Meanwhile, Bed Students Struggle Committee president Balendu Prasad Singh and aides have been arrested.

Police has been deployed in strength to prevent fresh violence.
