SP MLAs cast their votes in Presidential election
Patna, Jul 19 (UNI) In a departure from their party line, Samajwadi Party(SP) MLAs today cast votes to elect 13th President of India.
Both SP MLAs in the Assembly - Gopal Agarwal and Deonath Yadav - told reporters here that they had not received any guideline from the party's central leadership on voting and hence they opted to exercise their franchise in the interest of the country.
Mr Agarwal said he had voted in favour of Independent candidate and incumbent Vice-President Bhairon Singh Sekhawat as he had always been against the RJD and Congress.
While giving an indication for having voted in favour of Mr Shekhawat, other SP MLA - Mr Yadav - said he had participated in the JP movement and as such, he could not go along with the Congress and the RJD.
The SP has only two MLAs in the Bihar Assembly.
