Ferozpur, July 19 (UNI) The Border Security Force (BSF) seized 16 kg heroin worth Rs 16 crore in the international market near the Indo-Pakistan in the district last night.

BSF DIG (Ferozpur sector) Mohammed Akhil said today that the seizure was made near Mohammedwala border outpost (BOP).

The DIG said BSF jawans at the BOP noticed certain people who had sneaked into Indian territory throwing packets across the border fence. Two or three persons on this side of the border, who had apparently gone to collect the packets were also noticed, he added.

When the BSF jawans challenged the intruders, they fled back to Pakistan and those on this side of the fence also managed to get away. On search of the area in the morning the jawans recovered 16 packets of heroin.

On the report of the BSF, the Punjab Police have registered a case under the NDPS Act. No arrests had been made so far.
