Politics heading towards wrong direction: Khanduri

Dehra Dun, July 19 (UNI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Maj Gen (Retd) Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri today said the direcion in which present politics was heading was not a good sign.

After casting his vote for Presidential poll here on the Vidhan Sabha premises, Maj Gen Khanduri told newspersons that there ought to be a mutual consensus on important decisions among political parties.

In spite of the fact that the number game was against NDA supported independent candidate Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Maj Gen Khanduri said, ''Hum jeet sakte hain'' (We might win).'' When asked who was responsible for changing direction of politics, he maintained that every political party and politicians were responsible for it.

''Instead of thinking about the welfare of the country, we are interested in thinking for our own personal interests,'' he added, stressing it was not the trend in the past but now the situation was gradually deteriorating.
