One third of the pharmaceuticals in India report
New Delhi, July 19 (UNI) A syndicate based in Western UP involved in fake pharmaceuticals is successfully faking about one third of the popular drugs produced in the country.
This was reported by a news channel which conducted under cover study about the operations of the mafia operating in the area.
Several drugs including aspirin, dispirin, decamycin, rainbiotec, Voveron, Brufen and Ciplox were among the drugs faked by the operators. They had not spared even a life saving drug like 'Rabipur' an anti-rabies drug, Aaj-Tak, the channel which conducted the operations, said.
The group has its base in 10 states including Delhi, Gujarat, UP, Karnataka, Maharashtra and West Bengal. No top company including Aventis, Novartis, Pfizer, Nicolas Piramal, Glenmark and Ranbaxy were spared as the fake drugs were being produced under their names.
In the secret manufacturing facility at Meerut and Muzaffarnagar and the channel reporters were able to obtain fake samples for less than Rs 10, a channel release claimed.
