Munna Bajrangi, Kripa Shankar gangs' sharp shooter held

Lucknow, July 19 (UNI) The Special Operation Group (SOG) of Uttar Pradesh Police today arrested a wanted sharp shooter of the notorious Munna Bajrangi and Kripa Shankar Chaudhary gangs from Gomti Nagar area of the state capital.

Acting on a tip-off about the presence of Varanasi's hardened criminal, cops reached spot and surrounded the Gomti Nagar area. On being challenged, the history-sheeter opened fire.

After a long operation, police nabbed a criminal identified as Raju Bangali, alias Vishwanath Shah alias Pradeep Chakravorthy, carrying a reward of Rs 2,500.

On being frisked, a pistol and 500 gm morphine, worth Rs 50 lakh in the international market, was recovered from his possession, STF sources said.

On interrogation, the sharp shooter confessed to abducting Gaurav Diwedi on April 11 in Varanasi.

As many as 23 cases of murder, abduction, loot and dacoity were pending against the hard core criminal in Jaunpur, Varanasi and other districts.

Meanwhile, a reward of Rs 10,000 has been announced for the STF team.
