Majithia approves Rs 10 crore plan to upgrade PR Dept

Chandigarh, July 19 (UNI) Punjab Information and Public Relation Minister Bikram Singh Majithia, today gave his nod to a blue print to professionally and technically upgrade the Public Relations Department.

In a meeting held with District Public Relation Officers of the State, Rs 10 crore plan to technically equip the Department to face the challenges of changing needs of media was finalised.

In the meeting, the Department has finalised an upgradation plan to technically upgrade the offices of PR Department in the Districts and equip them with Computers, Broadband Internet, Digital Cameras and train the staff to make the effective use of these electronic gadgets.

The meeting also focused on making the district wise PR strategy keeping in view the specific requirements of that particular district.

It was also decided to create specific expert groups to focus on print and broadcast media to get the message of Government to the Public in proper perspective.

Addressing the officers, Mr Majithia exhorted the officers to adopt professional approach to disseminate message of the Government to the people living in the remote areas.

Mr Majithia called upon officers to maintain proper liaison with press and keep them updated with latest information.
