Government should implement land reforms 'meaningfully': CPI
Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, July 19 (UNI) Communist Party of India (CPI) Andhra Pradesh Unit Secretary K Narayana today demanded the State Government to implement land reforms in a ''meaningful way'', to benefit the poor people in the state.
Talking to newspersons here on the way to the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court at Jangareddigudem, he warned that the party would take up state-wide agitation from July 23 in front of the District Collectorates if the government failed to do so.
The party would take up this agitation at Hyderabad on July 22.
The party workers would take up indefinite hunger strike as part of the agitations, he added.
Dr Narayana said the state government itself had taken the initiative for land reforms. However, in the wake of the left party movement it should implement the reforms in a meaningful way.
He demanded the state government to accept the recommendations of the Koneru Rangarao committee and set up an independent commission for the implementation of land reforms in the state.
